Assam pink cotton Lampshade

About a year ago now I visited a wonderful project in a remote part of Assam, in North East India.  The project was set up by the Tata Trust to encourage and support women to develop their traditional hand-loom skills.  I was so impressed with these women and their wonderful creativity and enthusiasm that I commissioned some cotton using their designs. 

It's been a very long journey to get these two lovely designs to this point - the challenges these women face have been hugely increased by severe flooding and of course the impact of the pandemic has made things even more difficult.  Anyway - that's a long way round for telling you how thrilled we are with the result - these beautiful, subtle lampshades also have a story to tell!
