Kimono Collection

The Kimono Collection is a range of lighting and accessories inspired by the Japanese aesthetic. At the heart of this is the beautiful Iki Lamp, created in partnership with the renowned ceramicist, Ikuko Iwamoto.

Based in London, Ikuko is inspired by the intricate and fragile forms found in the natural world. Typically, her work in porcelain involves using a slip-casting technique to create unique, organic pieces that are both intricate and natural. Each design carries a sense of balance between delicacy and structure, simplicity and detail.

The name “Iki” comes from a Japanese concept describing a subdued display of taste or, more loosely, ‘chic’ or stylish. The lamp itself is made from white porcelain with a matt glaze, available either plain or in a subtly textured finish reminiscent of a sea urchin’s surface.

To complement the Iki Lamp, we have designed a range of lampshades made from vintage kimono silks in vibrant colours and intricate patterns. This is a limited-edition collection, and both the lamps and the shades are made to order: pieces to treasure for a lifetime.

The Kimono Collection celebrates craftsmanship, restraint, and beauty in its purest form. It brings together two worlds: the serene minimalism of Japanese design and the richness of vintage kimono silk, creating lighting that feels timeless yet deeply personal.

Each vintage silk kimono lampshade is handcrafted from original kimono fabric, chosen for its delicate texture, soft drape and luminous finish. The silk’s natural sheen interacts beautifully with light, creating subtle shifts in colour and tone as the lamp is lit. The patterns, from flowing florals to abstract motifs, reflect the artistry and symbolism woven into traditional Japanese textiles.

The Iki Lamp, designed in collaboration with Ikuko Iwamoto Ceramics, sits perfectly alongside these shades. Its sculptural porcelain base, with its clean lines and tactile surface, forms a graceful counterpart to the fluid patterns of the silk. Together, they embody a quiet sophistication - a meeting of texture, craftsmanship, and form.

Available in blue, green and pink, and in sizes from 30 cm and 35 cm, the collection offers pieces that can be tailored to your space.
