Framed Hand-Painted Reverse Glass Butterfly & Beetle Paintings

This collection of hand-painted reverse Indian glass paintings brings together two butterflies, a dragonfly and three beetles, in the spirit of a Victorian natural history cabinet.

Each is painted by hand on the back of the glass, so the colours sit crisp and glossy behind the surface: monarch orange, cobalt blue, emerald and gold. Each is set in its own aged wooden frame, from weathered black to ornate gilt.

Monarch Butterfly: a monarch with orange, black-edged wings dotted in white. Honey-orange wooden frame.

Blue Butterfly: a butterfly with striped blue wings and a rust-orange body. Pale wood frame with worn lime-green paint.

Dragonfly: a dragonfly with amber and orange wings and a slender body. Distressed black frame.

Golden Beetle: a beetle with a green head and gold-striped wing cases. Distressed black frame.

Emerald Beetle: a beetle with teal wing cases, a green head and orange tips. Ornate golden frame with a beaded edge and textured pattern.

Longhorn Beetle: a black beetle with looping antennae and golden spots. Weathered terracotta-orange frame.

Please Note:

Frames are hand-decorated and aged, so slight variations, small marks and wear are part of the charm

The frames do not come with a hook on the back, we suggest buying command strips if you wish to hang them or you can lean them on a shelf or mantel
