Waziri Shawls
Waziri Shawls
These shawls were made in Waziristan in the 20th century out of cotton and silk. Waziristan is in the Northeast province of Pakistan, a remote area bordering Afghanistan. The local weaving tradition often combines silk and cotton in striped designs. Weavers usually design these textiles to have mostly dark indigo cotton grounds with more minor bright silk accents. Makers will sometimes add some embroidery to the finished textile. Waziri shawls are worn by men and women.
They are being sold as a pair and although these pieces are not exactly identical we think they would make beautiful curtains. Â They are a beautiful deep raspberry on indigo blue.
