Collection: Cotton Lampshades

We produce a range of cotton lampshades, including both block printed and hand-woven cottons from Assam in India and Izmir in Turkey.

Block printing was introduced to Rajasthan - specifically Jaipur - by the Chhipa community and has been practised for over 500 years. The village of Bagru was at the heart of the industry and remains famous for its vegetable dye and mud resist (dabu) block prints. The art of block printing has been passed down through successive generations, while Sanganer, to the south of Jaipur, has become known for its more recent use of AZO-free pigment dyes.

In both Bagru and Sanganer, you can still see the printers at work at their long tables, thumping the hand-carved blocks onto cloth to create intricate, multicoloured patterns. Each impression carries its own subtle variations, a reminder of the artistry, rhythm, and human touch that go into every block print lampshade.

Our hand-woven cottons from India and Turkey are woven by women in their own homes as part of our programme to promote artisanal crafts and preserve ancient techniques. The cloth is soft yet strong, with a beautiful texture that filters light gently, giving every space a calm, natural glow.

Our cotton lampshades are available in a variety of patterns and colourways - from timeless chevrons, florals, and paisleys, to bold zigzag designs. Colours range from the deep indigos and earthy browns of traditional dyes to vibrant reds, sunny yellows, soft greens, and delicate pinks. Whether you prefer subtle, neutral tones or a more expressive palette, there’s a piece in this collection that will suit your home beautifully.

Each hand woven block print lampshade is handmade by skilled artisans who continue to use traditional techniques. They are available in sizes from 15 cm to 60 cm, with a choice of clip-on, E27, pendant, or duplex fittings, ensuring they work across a wide range of settings and lamp bases.

Our Indian and Turkish lampshades pair beautifully with both modern and traditional interiors. The gathered and pleated lampshades create a soft, romantic look, that represents the best of heritage craft, reimagined for contemporary living.

Each shade brings its own quiet beauty - the story of its maker, the touch of the hand that shaped it, and the traditions that inspired it. Whether you’re drawn to the crisp geometry of a block print or the organic weave of cotton hand-loomed in Assam or Izmir, these lampshades will bring depth, texture, and warmth to any room.

Our cotton collections are designed not just to illuminate, but to inspire - a celebration of the artistry, patience, and care that go into truly handmade things.
